If someone had told me years ago that I’d be a counsellor supporting stroke survivors, people living with disability, carers, and those facing life’s toughest challenges, I probably wouldn’t have believed them.

My journey hasn’t followed a straight line.

After experiencing a life-changing stroke, I had to rebuild my life from the ground up. Like many survivors, I faced uncertainty, loss of identity, and questions about what my future would look like. Recovery wasn’t just physical—it was emotional, psychological, and deeply personal.

Through determination, support, and a commitment to never giving up, I gradually found a  helping others navigate their own challenges.

Today, I’m proud to be a qualified counsellor and disability support practitioner, combining my professional training with lived experience to support people through recovery, mental health challenges, disability, and life transitions. Every conversation I have with a client reminds me why I chose this path.

I believe that learning never stops.

Over the next two years, I’ll continue expanding my skills and services to provide even greater support to my clients and community. One exciting step is beginning training as a Lifeline Crisis Supporter, developing specialised skills in crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and supporting people experiencing acute emotional distress.

This additional training will strengthen the way I support people through difficult moments, complementing the counselling and disability support services I already provide. It reflects my commitment to ongoing professional development and delivering compassionate, evidence-informed care.

I’m also continuing to grow my stroke recovery initiatives, including community groups, educational resources, and practical programs designed to help stroke survivors and their families rebuild confidence and independence—whether that’s returning to work, adjusting to life after stroke, or finding hope during recovery.

Looking ahead, my vision is simple: to create a supportive community where people feel heard, understood, and empowered to move forward, no matter what challenges they face.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey so far. Your trust and support inspire me every day.

The next chapter is just beginning, and I’m excited to continue walking alongside others as they write their own stories of resilience and recovery.
