Day to day living can be difficult as is for anyone, yet being a stroke survivor is something else isn’t it? If you are reading this I know you know what I mean by this. It is difficult enough as is, let alone striving to achieve goals as well as continuing to take steps forward post stroke. At my Haldi pre wedding celebration it all went to plan after many, many weeks of preparation. However it was most definitely not a one man show. We knew we needed a lot of help, and so we talked my mum (Kathleen) to see if she could assist us, and boy oh boy she stepped up to the job big time! (thanks mum).

I had to stop working at the age of 17 because I had a stroke. I had to stop studying, couldn’t drive and all of the things that come with that.
It is now 17 years later as I write this month’s blog (64 blogs later and 17 Podcasts listed so far and counting).
To have a successful stroke recovery does take time, effort, pain, anger, frustration and let’s be honest, every other emotion that you can think of comes along for the ride. Accepting everything that comes along for the ride is another thing altogether though. It will feel as if you are trying to walk up a big hill with a heavy backpack of emotions weighing more than your body weight for months to years on end. Stroke recovery is honestly NOT AN EASY JOURNEY.

When and if you commit yourself to a good journey ahead from when you had a stroke, there should be no other option than to commit wholeheartedly to the journey/process. I have seen and talked to my fair share of other stroke survivors on my Instagram Page and seen that it is far more difficult to progress forwards without a strong drive assisting you to move forwards…

To access this strong drive it will take creating a good team of people to assist you on your journey.

My original mission was originally to help inspire, support and assist stroke survivors on their post-stroke journey, and I can happily say nothing has changed. There will be more to come in the pipeline, so stay tuned.
Be inspired.
Be you.
